A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Love
$15.00
Add to Cart
Here is a fun sketch for your youth or for a fun night at church.... maybe Valentine's Day. The king and queen of Mundania are having a joust. Well, actually, they just play "rock, paper, scissors". The champion, Sir Lovesalot is in love with lady Emeline, but he's too shy to talk to her. Little does he know that she is also in love with him. The theme of "love is patient" comes out a few times as the king and queen try to help the young couple. Meanwhile, visiting Knights of the Round Table show up looking for some new recruits, which the king is excited about, but will this mean the young couple will have to wait even longer? There is a jester who is not funny, a wizard who can't seem to do anything, and an ugly old peasant woman who is desperate to find a husband. The king and queen do talk about God's love and how God is the one who brings people together.

In this pre-EASTER skit, on a Good Friday, a group of young people from a public school are heading on a field trip to the museum. They board a subway train and find a few younger kids in their car. Those kids are heading to a play about the crucifixion of Jesus and a discussion begins about what Good Friday is all about and the real meaning of Easter. Two of the kids begin a strong witness as they share the gospel, and one boy in particular shows a great interest.

Esther's Secret

Looking for a bible story that is short and easy? This is a modern day version of Esther, so you won't have to worry about bible costumes and interesting set pieces. In this sketch, SUSA is not the city, but a corporation. Ahasuerus (Xerxes) is not the king, but the C.E.O. named Mr. X. Esther is not a lady in the king's harem, but one of the secretaries. It is still the same story of a woman of faith who has to help her people. Mordecai is a jewish believer and Haman hates him and wants him and all the other Christians in the company fired. Being vice president, he has great influence over Mr. X. But he doesn't know Esther's secret, and she calls the Christians to prayer and fasting, and goes before Mr. X, (who has made her vice president, too, and is also falling in love with her) and the ending is nearly the same...X fires Haman (no execution), and Mordecai is promoted.

Gillian's Island - part 1
$10.00
Add to Cart
This is a humorous sketch about having our anchor in Christ, otherwise we could drift and become shipwrecked in our faith. It is obviously a rip-off of a popular TV show from the 60's. Two gals, Pepper and Carrie Anne have met and are taking a short cruise around Catalina Island with a female skipper. But the skipper gets off the boat to gas up and the girls fall asleep to wake up and find that they have drifted way out to sea. Pepper is played over the top as a dumb actress and they deal with possible sharks and rocks and the fear of shipwreck. Even though they cry out to God in prayer... they find themselves at the end on an island where someone named Gillian is also stranded. There are sequels that you can get to follow this sketch, parts 2 and 3. Or if you want all three, go to the general Christian script category and scroll till you find "Gillian's Island - The Play". You save a little money by buying the play rather than the three skits.

Gillian's Island 2
$10.00

This is a sequel to Gillian's Island, obviously. If you want to continue the story, the girls from the first sketch have arrived on the beach of a deserted island only to find that there are other people already shipwrecked there. The characters are loosely based on the TV sitcom of the 60's. Carrie Ann is the Christian and she tries to be helpful as she runs up against a very disagreeable rich man who doesn't want more mouths to feed. Pepper is the ditzy actress who usually has the comedy lines. The actress and the billionaire are a lot more fun if you play them just like the characters from the old show. There are sequels (one before and one after) that you can get to go with this sketch, parts 1 and 3. Or if you want all three, go to the general Christian script category and scroll till you find "Gillian's Island - The Play". You save a little money by buying the play rather than the three skits.

In this part 3 sequel, the castaways are rescued... only to end up in a big storm that threatens their very lives. There is still a lot of humor as this one gets more serious toward the end. Skippie arrives with her dad (Skippie could be a male) and they find everyone asleep. They have to wake them up and get them on Skippie's boat. With Gillian sleepwalking and everyone out cold because of what they ate... it is comical. The second half is the storm and the passengers begin to talk about life and death and what is important. Carrie Ann boldly shares the gospel and prays for their deliverance. It seems as if some of them are having a changed heart once they are safely through the storm. There are prequels that you can get to precede this sketch, parts 1 and 2. Or if you want all three, go to the general Christian script category and scroll till you find "Gillian's Island - The Play". You save a little money by buying the play rather than the three skits.

I Think It's Time To Pray

A new, low price for this short 15 minute THANKSGIVING DAY sketch about a family gathering for Thanksgiving dinner. It may look like your typical family: the men are glued to the TV, watching the game; Grandma wants to help, but no one lets her; the aunt has an opinion on everything including how to cook the turkey; unexpected family shows up; the child brings the dog into the dining room, etc. Finally, it is time to eat, and Grandma gets to have her say which puts the focus on what this holiday is all about: What we need to be thankful for and Who we need to be thankful to. Christ is honored at the end. This skit is almost exactly the same as the opening scene in the Christmas play, "Christmas at the Murphy's".

This is really four short monologues dealing with people who are at the end of their ropes. Each one has a different dilemma: One is an alcoholic, one didn't find happiness in riches, one has cancer and the last one is suicidal. At the end of the sketch, a pantomime of Christ entering and removing their "chains" is played out and then He is taken away to be crucified. At this point the suicidal person cries out, "Not Him, it should have been me!" You can also use demonic and angelic characters throughout the monologues.

In this one act Christian play, A group of young people are having a Halloween party with costumes and Tim has dressed as a super hero because he doesn't want to be an evil looking character. They tease him for his standards and they discuss alcohol and making out and finally end up playing with a Ouija board. By now, Tim has shared his Christian views on things, so he refuses to play the game. The game ends up sending them to the cemetery to find a particular headstone, when they see someone running by and they get frightened. The police arrive and they are warned of a dangerous criminal on the loose as well as reprimanded for being out after curfew and disturbing the peace. The best part is...Tim had prayed out loud that they would be protected from evil by the blood of Jesus, and when they realized the man they saw could have been dangerous... they began to think about Tim's prayer. One girl in particular really wants to talk to Tim at the end about heaven and hell.

Lip Service

This is another sketch about Marguerite, the make-up girl. This time Marguerite is a smaller part as the skit starts with two women from church who meet at the make-up counter and begin talking. It starts out as a pretty normal conversation until one of the women shares a prayer request that is supposed to be kept private. As she leaves, another lady from church shows up and the information is shared, but not very accurately. By the time Marguerite hears it, it is totally wrong and she always gets things mixed up anyway because she is foreign and doesn't always understand what is being said. What ends up being a serious case of gossip turns into a funny end when the original woman returns to be greeted by a distraught Marguerite. This is similar to the sketch "Lipstick".

Lipstick

Loose lips sink ships, as they say. This sketch is about speaking out of turn and how easily something shared becomes gossip. Marguerite is giving free make-up demonstrations and two ladies from church come to get their faces done. Personal things get shared and what should be sad is actually funny. You see, Marguerite is foreign and she doesn't always understand what is being said and often gets things wrong. Sometimes humor is the best way to get the point across. Liver spots on a mother's hands become spots on her own liver and they begin to talk about her death. A lip injection is mistaken to be a liposuction. You will have fun teaching this important lesson and get made over at the same time. This is similar to the sketch "Lip Service".

Amazing price! This is a short two man drama about Paul and Silas in prison. The other characters in the story are off stage as Paul and Silas, alone on stage discuss their capture, beating and experiences... and soon begin singing and worshiping the Lord while in stocks. It may take some creativity to make the earthquake seem real, but that will be fun to make happen.

Pocahontas: A Bright Stream Between Two Hills
$5.00

The true story of Pocahontas is a little known story in history, especially since the very fictionalized version by Disney several years ago. In this sketch, I have tried to stick to the facts and only dramatizing it to create dialogue. We know she was converted to Christ and who she married, but not about how it may have come about. There is less about John Smith and Chief Powhatan, and more about John Rolfe, who falls in love with her. It goes from Pocahontas at age 13 to her death at age 22.

This skit is about Charlie, a young pastor on staff at a large church who falls for Tia, who recently became a Christian. They meet in the first scene and it ends with his proposal in the last scene. The way he goes about asking her to marry him is somewhat humorous. Tia lives with the woman who is her spiritual mentor and is like a mother to her, and there is an obvious deep love that the women have for each other and for the Lord.

This has been marked down to a very reasonable cost.

This skit or one act play, (good for VALENTINE'S DAY) is about marriage relationships. The scene takes place in a restaurant and there are 3 tables. The center table is back a ways and an older couple are sitting there observing the couples at the other tables. A young couple sit at one, and a middle aged couple with 2 teenagers at the other. Humorous arguments and bickering go on and the older couple discuss how alike or different they are from the other couples. Finally, they begin to tell each other how they could not have imagined being with anyone else for all these years. There is mention of the importance of making Christ the center of your marriage.

The Cooking Lesson
$20.00

Mary Beth is getting a cooking lesson from her Aunt Nellie. Nellie is doing it as a wedding present, since the groom really wants a wife who can cook. The only problem is that Mary Beth can't cook, and is rather dim-witted and can't even boil water. As Nellie's patience runs thin... they encounter one problem after another. Finally, Aunt Marty shows up, and she does nothing but joke about what a bad cook she, herself is. (She knows all the jokes... and she can deliver!) This lightens the tense mood until Richard, the groom, shows up to try out the cooking and the aunts are concerned that it might not be edible. Mostly humorous and even when God, Jesus and scripture is mentioned, it is to show the groom how he needs God's help to demonstrate love and kindness to his wife in spite of her cooking.

When Lewis and Clark returned from their journey, they were invited to many parties and balls to be congratulated for their accomplishments. Imagine one such ball where the hostess and her daughter pepper the gentlemen with questions that they gladly answer which in turn reveals a great deal of information about the expedition in a short amount of time. Period music can be added for effect. Sacagawea appears in a pantomime sequence.

The Pirates' Quest
$20.00
Add to Cart
This comedy sketch is about pirates. Two bands of pirates have come ashore to this small village in search of chocolate. They meet each other and at first are ready to fight, but then they join forces to steal all the chocolate from a local chocolatier. One pirate band is called the Pirates of the Carob Bean, (they have been eating carob instead of chocolate) and the other one is the Pirates of Penn's Aunts. (The captain is Penn, and all the rest are women, his older aunts.) They meet the daughter of the chocolatier and she is not afraid of them and is protective of her father, who, a Christian, decides to give away all his chocolate as a love gift in Jesus' name. This becomes a problem for the pirates who want to take it by force, not as a gift. Overwhelmed by the love of God, the pirates are changed. A lot of humor and jokes throughout, with the message not being too powerful or overbearing. Mostly silly and done for laughs.

The Vine And The Branches
$10.00
Add to Cart
Great low price! This is an unusual sketch that starts out with your actors playing the vine and the branches. One actor represents Jesus and then they form a line making the vine, and others join on to the line creating the branches. The branches begin to talk among themselves, and one breaks away, to try to grow fruit on his own, without the nutrients from the vine. Once he realizes his mistake, he comes back and is welcomed back...then it all changes, and they become men... seeking a ministry and being an encouragment to a man who is trying to do everything in his own power. He is guided back to getting his strength from the Lord and His Word, and they go out to minister to the homeless and bear fruit for God.

Written as an all male cast. 7 speaking parts plus extras. Females can be used as well. Several extras are needed to form the vine. Age is optional. About 20 minutes in length. Learn More
