A Little Fender Bender

Daryl has an accident that turns out to be a little fender bender when it should have been much worse. However, he doesn't seem to realize that he has God to thank for keeping him safe. When an old friend comes by, he tells her about all the big events and close calls he has had recently, and still does not give credit to the Lord for his blessings. The friend shares how she and her husband are trusting God for providing their needs, and he still seems clueless to his unthankful spirit. A man comes by who convinces Daryl that he is a "messenger of God" and he has been protecting Daryl for years. He gets him to realize how he has neglected to give thanks for all that God has been doing in his life. He has a change and ends up giving to the friend who really has a need, because he is thankful for what he has been given.

A Prayer For Thanksgiving

This THANKSGIVING DAY play was originally written and produced in 1985. With some slight phrasing changes it can easily be adapted to a modern day setting. Deni is a high school girl who prays and asks God for a simple request, that her family would all be together on Thanksgiving. This meets with oposition to almost every member of the family. Her parents are constantly fighting and there are hints of a break-up. Her oldest sister has moved away and has a new live-in boyfriend that does not make her parents happy. The brother is away at college, but he and his father are not on speaking terms. No one wants what Deni wants..and they try to tell her that. Deni is discouraged.. but doesn't give up entirely, so she and her best friend, Monica, invite people from church who had no place to go. Not only does God answer her prayer.. but He has much bigger plans for her crumbling family. There is a strong salvation message as well as lessons on having faith, reaching out to the lonely and unloved, and seeing God working above and beyond what we can imagine. This is a great deal with this low price for a full length play.

This short drama is about taking the time to count your blessings and be thankful for what you have. A window clerk at the post office hears one sad story after another that makes her think twice about her own complaints. The humor comes from the actress playing the clerk, as she hears the stories, she begins to become emotional and then loses control of her emotions when she hears the fifth story. The point is clearly made... and you can go out with a laugh as this poor woman loses it.

A new, low price for this short 15 minute THANKSGIVING DAY sketch about a family gathering for Thanksgiving dinner. It may look like your typical family: the men are glued to the TV, watching the game; Grandma wants to help, but no one lets her; the aunt has an opinion on everything including how to cook the turkey; unexpected family shows up; the child brings the dog into the dining room, etc. Finally, it is time to eat, and Grandma gets to have her say which puts the focus on what this holiday is all about: What we need to be thankful for and Who we need to be thankful to. Christ is honored at the end. This skit is almost exactly the same as the opening scene in the Christmas play, "Christmas at the Murphy's".

The Pilgrims and Squanto

The first Thanksgiving Feast, as we know it, is when the Pilgrims ate with the Indians for 3 days, celebrating their great harvest. It may not have been called "Thanksgiving" then, but they surely did pray and offer thanks to God for all He had done for them. The big thing was the Indian, Squanto, who taught them how to plant well, so they could survive the winter. This sketch is about that gathering, and each character in the script was an actual person who attended the feast that day. This is also a scene in the play, "A Nation Of Ordinary People."
