Can they get 34 people together for a family reunion on Christmas Day? There are many obstacles to keep this idea from working, but God works everything out and brings the whole family together. A godly old grandmother shares some spiritual things at the end. A good character part for an actress is the main character who is hosting the party. There is some humor mixed in.

A Soldier's Christmas

The war in Iraq (or any war for that matter) makes Christmas a difficult time for soldiers and their families back home. In this play, with a new, lower price, we try to imagine this conflict from both sides. The soldiers are shown as happy to receive mail from home and trying not to be sad about being gone. The families back home gather together for support and work on projects and talk about their relations in the service. It goes back and forth between with a positive beat, trying not to become depressing. Some of the Christian soldiers witness to a vocal unbeliever in the group.

This is a short play that was written as a narration to a choir performance, but it can also be done as a short play by itself. The Widow Perkins is all alone and she talks to the audience quite a bit as a narrator. She also interacts with children and other actors as a little story unfolds about reaching out to others at Christmas time. We are reminded how much even a little thing means to someone who is all alone. There are places in the script where musical numbers can be added. Without the songs it would only be about 30 mins.

Children of Bethlehem
$30.00

This was done as a Children's Musical, but there was only one original song. The rest of the songs were borrowed from other places. It does work well as a musical with costumes. Joey is in the Children's Choir and he falls asleep after the performance and dreams that he is back in the time of Jesus' birth as one of the children of Bethlehem. Jonas and Deborah live in the Inn that is run by their parents. Mary and Joseph come by asking for a room...and get sent to the stable. The kids are all excited about a baby being born in their stable that night. Micah is a shepherd boy who wants to be able to stay up all night with his older brother and the other shepherds to watch the sheep.. so he hides out after he and the other children were sent home. Jedidiah is his brother, who loves to study the scriptures..and knows a lot about the prophesies concerning the Messiah. The angel appears to them and they immediately believe that this baby is the one they have been waiting for. They hurry to see the baby and worship him telling Joseph and Mary about the angels. As they leave, they see Jonas and Deborah and tell them, too. They tell their dad, who doesn't believe them that the baby is the Messiah, and sends them off to bed. Joey is wakened by his mother, and he tells her about his dream. He decides to give his heart to Jesus.

Cast of 22 (12 male, 10 female, some adults can be used), plus extras and Children's Choir. Depending on how many songs are used, time is 60-90 mins. Dramatic portion is about 25-30 mins. This can also be used as a short non-musical play. Learn More
Christmas At The Murphy's
$40.00
Add to Cart
This is our most popular Christian script. A comedy set in modern times about a family that gathers together on Christmas, and the comical situations that can happen with a demanding sister, bored teenagers, a sleepy and hard of hearing grandpa, and a very unusual neighbor. It is a wholesome story that brings in a spiritual message at the end as Grandma shares the real meaning of Christmas. At first, they all say they know, but as the youngest begins to ask questions, she briefly shares the gospel message. If you are looking for a play that is mostly funny... this is the one for you. The part of the neighbor is the funniest and needs a little bit of character acting as she is very old and very eccentric.

Cast of 15 including 4 adult males and 5 adult females, 1 teen male and 2 teen females plus 3 children or young teens. ( Some of the girl teens could be changed to boys easily, or played by younger kids) about 45-50 mins.

There is another version available by request that has 6 males and 6 females. (Including the 2 teens and one child)

I also have a third version availabe that has 24 actors. It only has 3 adult males, 1 teen male, 7 adult females, 1 teen female and 12 other teens and children. 10 are very small parts in one scene as carolers. Learn More

Finding Peace - (long version)
$40.00

If you are looking for a serious family drama for Christmas, this could be it. Mark and Cindy are a couple whose marriage is on the verge of collapse. He wants a political career and she just wants a good family and to find real peace. Their daughter has been going to church with a friend and when Mark finds out, he's very upset. Paul and Sharon have been friends of theirs for years, but when they got saved, Mark pulled away, not liking all the religious talk. The girls remained friends, but now they have gone too far, in Mark's opinion. Rebecca likes going to church, and in fact, she has become a Christian, though she hasn't told anyone. She wants to embrace her new faith, yet she also wants to obey her father. Paul explains to his daughter, Jess, that if she wants to remain friends, she has to keep it on a secular level. Cindy has enough and leaves Mark on Christmas Eve, but ends up at Paul and Sharon's so the girls can say good bye. Mark finds her note and comes to see Paul, not knowing why he is even there, but when Paul shares the gospel yet again, this time he's ready to hear it. Yes, Mark and Cindy do get saved, but finding Christ and finding peace doesn't mean a big happy ending. They meet together and talk about how this is going to be a new road and they are going to take it slow and work at their marriage. The Christmas theme is not the main part of this story. If you would rather have a version without Christmas references, just ask us for it once you've made your purchase. We will be happy to send you a version that is non-seasonal.

9 actors (3 adult males, 3 adult females, 3 teen females) Mark and Cindy are very large parts, the teen girls could be changed to boys if that works better. Dialog is about 60-70 mins. Adding songs would make it a bit longer. We added two songs, with music during scene breaks and it lasted 80 mins. There is a short version under 30 mins available on this site. Learn More
Fixing Christmas
$40.00

Fixing Christmas is a story of how life can surprise you with pain and sorrow and also with joy. Matt is a mechanic who is "fixing up" a car for his friend Hank, who wants to give it to his 18 year old daughter, Beth for Christmas. Jeremy is Matt's best friend, who spends all his time hanging out in Matt's garage. Actually, the entire play takes place in Matt's garage as he works on the car. Jeremy gets to know Hank and learns that Hank recently lost his wife. It is a difficult time for him and his family, especially for the middle child, Chrissy, who doesn't want to celebrate Christmas and gets arrested for shoplifting. Hank is wondering how to "fix" things. The three men are the main characters, but the kids are in and out, with some serious scenes involving Chrissy and her friend Denise, who doesn't know the Lord. The gospel is shared with Denise in one scene but everyone is shocked to learn that Jeremy (nicknamed, Mr. Christmas) realizes he was never truly saved and he comes to the Lord in a big way at the Christmas Eve Program. Even with the excitement of Beth getting her car in the last scene... Jeremy's surprise is the best of all. You can say his soul got "fixed" for Christmas. All on one set, making your stage look like the inside of a garage.

This play is written by Bryan Archer of "The Agape Players." Everyone knows that the day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the entire year. It even has its own title: “BLACK FRIDAY!!” For Albert Grayson, it’s “do or die” time. A bad Christmas retail season could spell doom for Grayson’s Department Store. One of his concerns this Christmas is the wrapping department, after all, it’s the cornerstone of customer service. Can Mr. Grayson whip the wrapping department into shape? Can he save the department store that his father founded? Can he remember exactly why he celebrates Christmas? As he interacts with his employees, he learns a great lesson of how people should be treated and the best way to win people to Christ. In a dream, he sees how he is supposed to be acting toward others, one girl in particular who he thinks is worthless, and that changes him. At the end, he finds himself getting married and sees his young female employee as someone with a future instead of a loser with no hope.

What does it mean to go home for Christmas? For Grandma, it had a very special meaning. This story opens on Christmas Day as the family is arriving, and Grandma announces that next year, she will be going home for Christmas. The main character is teenage Amy, who is not getting along with her parents and has slipped into a state of rebellion. Grandma seems to be the only person who can reach out to her. When we next see them on July 4th, Amy is worse, saying that she no longer believes in God, and Grandma is worse, physically. By Thanksgiving, they are having a funeral. Everyone talks about their memories of Grandma, and Amy goes outside to talk to God, and asks Jesus into her heart. The final scene is Christmas again, with Grandpa making adjustments in life, and just before they read the Christmas Story, Amy announces to everyone about her big change and her grandmother's influence.

How Mr. Sodd Found Christmas

This play is loosely based on the Dickens' classic 'Scrooge' tale, but set in modern times. Edward Sodd is a young man who has inherited his father's software company, but his heart is so hard and his focus is so wrong, that he begins to see his world crumbling around him. He actually doesn't see it until a robber hits him over the head and then he is visited by three strangers (spirits?) who show him who he really is. He learns that his wife is about to leave him and that one of his employees has a sick daughter who may die because he won't help with health care. It all wraps up in a happy ending as Edward sees his wickedness and cries out to God. Some humor & drama mixed throughout and the large part of Edward should be a lot of fun to play.

Cast of 22 plus extras. (8 males, 8 females, 6 children) The mourners could be men or women, the spirits could also be women, and only one of the children really needs to be a boy. Play runs about 37-40 min. Learn More
I Believe In Christmas
$10.00

This affordable play was written for a puppet ministry with a mixture of live actors and puppets. You've heard of a play within a play? Well this is a play within a play within a play within a play. Follow closely and I'll try to explain: Keith comes to the clubhouse of his friends (the puppets) and asks for help because his friend, Angela, does not believe in Christmas. The friends decided to put on a play about Jesus' birth to help convince her. There is a lot of puppet interaction as we watch the play come together. Pappy becomes the director and he gets a little stressed. Keith and Angela come to watch and Pappy keeps stopping the play to make corrections, suddenly a director comes up from the audience to stop the whole play we are watching. He talks to Pappy and the other actors, like the girl playing Angela (Kelly). She has questions about being a Christian and that perks up everyone, but just then, they all freeze. Two slightly older girls walk on stage and one of them is saying how she is Kelly. That is when you realize that the entire play was just a story this girl was telling her friend. The play continues, as they share the gospel with Kelly and they get back to their bible play and the end where Angela invites Jesus into her heart. But Kelly goes off the script and does it for real. So this is a story of how Kelly got saved doing the Christmas play. Are you confused? Well, so are the puppets at the end. A bit of humor and a salvation message.

Cast of 14 characters, 8 male and 6 female. (at least 9 puppets) Age and gender can vary. One set.. no scene changes. 45-50 mins. Learn More

Joseph's Wife
$25.00

I wrote this play about 20 years ago, but I have recently reworked it and added to it. I used the passages from Matthew and Luke as my base and then used my imagination to create a story about Mary and Joseph. It opens with a scene involving Mary, her mother, and a friend discussing her engagement to Joseph. Then the angel's appearing and then Mary trying to explain to Joseph what happened. I deal with his possible reaction and decision to protect her from disgrace. Then the dream with the angel's visit and finally the Bethlehem scenes: A very busy Inn with stressed out Innkeepers and guests, frightened shepherds on a hill who are visited by an angel, and a cozy scene at the end with Mary and Joseph with the baby in the stable, discussing how God was working in their lives, and committing to Him and whatever He wants for them as parents of Jesus.

Dialogue portion is about 40 minutes. Songs could be added to enhance it and make it a musical. Cast of 4 women and 5 men (mostly teen and adult) plus 7-10 extras (some with a few lines) Learn More
Life, Death And Two Strips Of Bacon

This Christian play takes place in a diner and all the scenes have the same set. The main characters are the 4 waitresses who work there and the town sheriff who comes by daily for his coffee. There is a lot of humor as the girls have a contest to see who can get the customers to order strange items that are not on the menu, and some interaction with some of the customers. We are introduced to Johnny, the cook, (another lead character) who hates his life and dreams of leaving the small town and trying to make it in the big city. Carrie Ann is a young mother working at the diner who tries to share the Lord with Johnny. A sudden tragedy rocks the town when a bus crash kills some kids and Johnny learns that his best friend was the driver who was also killed. The sheriff shares how he lost a brother in a similar crash back in 1981 and he tells how he got through that, and shares how he came to Christ at that time. Johnny is moved by his testimony and gets right with God as well. Johnny does leave town, but with a new lease on life and in an upbeat manner. The play ends on a humorous note as they get back to their funny contest. The play could be done any time of year and the references to Christmas easily removed.

Cast of 15 plus extras. (written as 2 males, 8 females and 5 children) Some of the customers can be easily changed to men. Two extras are a senior couple. Runs about 50 min. Learn More
Nana's House

This is a play about coming to grandma's house for Christmas. It takes place in the 50's with costumes, music and lines that are reminiscent of old TV shows. Alexis (Alex) was raised by Nana, and she is home from college. Nana hopes that her strong Christian faith will have an influence on her family who seem to have forgotten the real meaning of Christmas. Mostly kids in this show with lots of cousins and typical bickering that you might find when lots of family is together. The play gets serious at the end when Alex has a chance to really share with her cousins about what Jesus did for us and His gift at Christmas.

Cast of 14. (Only 4 older adults, several small children and only 2 male parts, though some of the children could be changed to boys. Most of the actors need to be young adult or teen) About 30 minutes. Learn More
No Room For Jesus
$20.00
Add to Cart
This play was written for a puppet ministry with a mixture of live actors and puppets. It can be easily adapted into a regular play with all actors, or just a few puppets. It is about a group of young people who want to put on a Christmas play, but do not have enough actors. They meet a bunch of strangers who offer to help them with the play. It is an answer to prayer, but things get out of hand and attitudes go wild. There is a lot of humor in the script, but things take a serious turn when the real message comes toward the end. A word of exhortation and some scripture helps everyone to see what has happened and to repent. The play within the play is actually never seen. The actors learn that they always need to make room for Jesus in every area of their lives and especially in their Christmas project.

There are 24 characters, 13 males and 11 females.. some can be altered and ages can vary. 60 minutes. One set.. no scene changes. Learn More

Since the young people did it a few years back, they invite the same bunch in and ask them to help the younger kids put on the Christmas story. So, with teens in charge, they run into a few problems trying to get the kids to accept their roles and also remembering how the story goes and where to find it all in the Bible. Leadership gets passed around as someone has to go look for a missing kid in the church. It all turns out well at the end with a nice narrated Christmas story.

Are you looking for a Christmas extravaganza? This Christian play has it all...toys that come to life, a kind old toy store owner, a villain who is trying to ruin Christmas (and the whole town forever) and a mystery. Merryton is a special town and they love to celebrate Christmas. The problem this year is that someone stole the star from the top of the town Christmas tree. The mayor hires a private detective and the mystery begins. Meanwhile, the toys in the toy store come to life and they are also trying to solve the mystery of the missing star. Many of the toys are based on recognizable characters and much of it is humorous. The villain is Mrs. Murray and her very strange grounds keeper who are trying to remove all religious references from the town's public activities. Meanwhile, while everyone is upset about the star and trying to guess "who-done-it", one Christian family is reaching out to the lonely toy store owner and trying to be his friend. They share the gospel with him over dinner and he gets saved. The British P. I. is about to solve the case, when the Christian puppeteer confesses to the crime to protect the real thief, the toy store owner. But as a new believer, he confesses everything and soon all is forgiven and the town has a happy ending. Well, except for Mrs. Murray. This would make a great musical, however you would have to provide your own songs, none are included here.

This play was first written back in the early 80's. It takes place at Christmas time, and is about a group of young people from a church that have gone on a retreat in the mountains. It is just a few days before Christmas, and they find they could be snowed in, and may have to spend Christmas away from their homes. Curt is left in charge, and he finds himself being a spiritual leader to the group while their sponsor goes for help. Jill is there with her unsaved boyfriend, and she discovers that an unequally yoked relationship is not good. Howard learns that he needs to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit rather than his intellect.
